ASS = Auftauen Super Schnell (superfast defrosting). When you are winter camping, it quickly and reliably defrosts frozen waste water pipes and valves; works with a 12 V power port. Defrosting times are pleasantly short and with 70 W, the battery consumption is relatively low. The heating tape ASS is wrapped around the frozen drain pipe and valve. Once the connector is plugged into the cigarette lighter, the ice in the pipe or valve melts. The defrosting time depends on the length and the diameter of the pipe and the current sub-zero temperature. Depending on content, temperature and insulation, defrosting takes between 5 to 60 minutes maximum. With a mixing ratio of two parts antifreeze to one part water, -20 °C is easily covered, while a 1:1 mixture remains effective down to -10 °C. The natural-based antifreeze can be easily drained, collected and reused at the start of the season. Flushing the drinking water system is not necessary, as any residues are harmless.
