  • Hard ground: pointed and long steel pegs
  • Extremely hard ground: very long and thin pegs made of special aluminum or galvanized steel with round, triangular or square profile (or also in T-shape)

 

What kind of camping tent to take on vacation, on the other hand, depends more on the environment. Depending on the climate and travel needs, a different tent format may come into question. If the ground is rather hard and uneven, the most important thing is a sturdy tent floor that can withstand sharp edges and sharp corners.

The inner tents are less airy, but better positioned in cool, stormy and wet weather conditions. In total weight, the camping tents are slightly heavier. However, they are suitable for summer, also thanks to separately usable inner tents.
  • Four-season tent: Camping tents for winter camping, winter destinations, expeditions and high mountains. Withstand fierce winds and snow loads thanks to a flysheet that extends to the ground, thick tent poles and guy ropes. They usually offer large storage areas for the extra luggage during the winter season. All openings (including for ventilation) can be closed in case the snow comes.

Light or robust - the type of travel determines

At the festival or backpacking, of course, rather light luggage is in demand. So the camping tents should also be light, because they have to be lugged along after all. If travelers are on foot or by bike, lightweight trekking tents are the best choice. When traveling by car, motor home, caravan, camper or van, however, the luggage may well be somewhat heavier. Accordingly, the weight of awnings tends to take a back seat.

Convenient or demanding: How elaborate can the tent be?

If it should go fast or also from comfort the expenditure of the tent structure can play a role.   • Four-season tent: Camping tents for winter camping, winter destinations, expeditions and high mountains. Withstand fierce winds and snow loads thanks to a flysheet that extends to the ground, thick tent poles and guy ropes. They usually offer large storage areas for the extra luggage during the winter season. All openings (including for ventilation) can be closed in case the snow comes.

At the festival or backpacking, of course, rather light luggage is in demand. So the camping tents should also be light, because they have to be lugged along after all. If travelers are on foot or by bike, lightweight trekking tents are the best choice. When traveling by car, motor home, caravan, camper or van, however, the luggage may well be somewhat heavier. Accordingly, the weight of awnings tends to take a back seat.

If it should go fast or also from comfort the expenditure of the tent structure can play a role.
