Welche Kriterien sollten beim Kauf eines Fahrradträgers beachtet werden?
Um den passenden Fahrradträger für deinen Wohnwagen zu finden, solltest du dir vor dem Kauf folgende Fragen stellen:
- Wie viele Räder möchtest du transportieren? Zwei, drei oder sogar vier?
- Wie schwer sind die Fahrräder? E-Bikes wiegen durch Akku und Motor meist etwa 6 kg mehr.
- Wie schnell möchtest du während des Transports fahren können?
- Welche Montagemöglichkeiten bietet dein Caravan: Anhängerkupplung, Heckklappe oder Dachschienen?
Viele Fahrradträger sind absenkbar, was die Beladung erheblich erleichtert.
Gesetzgebung und Vorschriften bei der Nutzung von Fahrradträgern für Wohnwagen
Folgende Vorschriften solltest du beim Fahrradtransport beachten:
- Fahrräder dürfen auf beiden Fahrzeugseiten maximal 20 cm überstehen.
- Es dürfen keine scharfen Teile herausragen.
- Fahrradträger auf der Anhängerkupplung müssen funktionierende Rück- und Bremslichter besitzen.
- Ein weißes Nummernschild muss am Fahrradträger angebracht werden.
Zudem sollte jeder Fahrradträger über eine stabile 3-Punkt-Befestigung verfügen. Empfehlenswert – auch wenn nicht vorgeschrieben – ist ein abschließbarer Träger für zusätzliche Sicherheit.
Welche Arten von Fahrradträgern gibt es?
Grundsätzlich gibt es drei Arten, Fahrräder außen am Wohnwagen zu transportieren:
- Heckträger
- Dachträger
- Fahrradträger für Anhängerkupplung oder Deichsel
Heckträger – Wohnwagen-Fahrradträger für hinten
Heckträger werden an der Heckklappe oder direkt am Chassis befestigt. Viele Modelle sind höhenverstellbar und erleichtern das Beladen. Nicht jeder Träger passt jedoch zu jedem Fahrzeug – hier beraten wir dich gerne.
Vor allem bei Campingfahrzeugen ohne Heckklappe empfiehlt sich ein fachgerechter Einbau, um Schäden zu vermeiden.
Dachträger für den Wohnwagen
Vorteile von Dachträgern:
- keine eingeschränkte Sicht nach hinten
- Nummernschild und Bremsleuchten bleiben frei
- geringe Anschaffungskosten
Nachteile:
- höhere Windlast, geringere Sicherheit
- Fahrräder sind ungeschützt dem Fahrtwind ausgesetzt
- Fahrverhalten kann sich verändern
- Gesamthöhe des Fahrzeugs steigt
Fahrradträger für Anhängerkupplung oder Deichsel
Kupplungs- und Deichselträger lassen sich meist schnell montieren und sind oft fahrzeugunabhängig.
Wichtig: Beachte immer die maximale Stützlast von Anhängerkupplung oder Deichsel. Sie darf nicht überschritten werden, da sonst Schäden oder Sicherheitsrisiken entstehen können.

Die Tragfähigkeit hängt vom Modell sowie vom Montageort ab. Standardträger eignen sich meist für Fahrräder bis etwa 22 kg und dürfen insgesamt bis ca. 50 kg beladen werden. Für E-Bikes gibt es verstärkte Modelle.
